Our new trial service means you can pick up and drop off Podback bags in participating stores.
Podback recycling points have been set up in selected Costa Coffee stores in Tesco supermarkets. At these stores, you will be able to pick up a Podback recycling bag from your barista, and drop your filled bag back for recycling when it’s full.
This exciting new collaboration with Costa Coffee is one of the ways we are working to make coffee pod recycling as easy and convenient as possible. Just drop your bag back when you’re calling in for a coffee, no label printing required!

HOW IT WORKS
Ask your barista for a Podback bag.
- You need a white bag for aluminium pods, and a green bag for plastic pods. Pods need to be collected separately to ensure they get to the correct recycling plant.
- There’s no need to remove the coffee – Podback looks after the whole pod: the coffee grounds, plastic and aluminium all get recycled.
Fill and seal your bag.
- Fill the bag up to the dotted line, and drain any liquid before sealing your bag following the printed instructions.
Drop it back to Costa Coffee in Tesco
Next time you're passing or stopping for a coffee, drop your bag in the Podback recycling bin in-store, or hand your bag back to your barista.
The trial will run for five months at which point, we'll review the customer feedback and insights we've received, in addition to the number of pods collected, to help evaluate its success.
