Conwy County Borough Council was the first Welsh local authority to launch a Podback coffee recycling service.
The service is available to all 57,000 households across the county. Pods are collected alongside textiles and small electrical items, and collections are operated by local community recycling enterprise, Crest Cooperative.
Adding pods to the kerbside service was cost-neutral to the local authority, with Podback covering additional operational and marketing costs and working alongside the council's waste team to manage mobilisation of the service.
Launched in September 2022, the Podback service has proved popular with residents, with volumes growing steadily over the first year.
